The ban has been aproved by the Chicago City Council on a 48-0 vote and slated to take effect Jan. 31, 2010, spokeswoman for Mayor Richard M. Daley said.

“This is an important step in a landmark consumer protection initiative. This legislation will protect Chicago’s children and send a clear message to other jurisdictions considering similar legislation,” said Alderman Manny Flores, co-sponsor of the measure.

“We should err on the side of caution and not needlessly expose people to the harmful effects, especially children,” said Alderman Edward Burke, the measure’s other sponsor.

If you are going to start parents you perhaps think that your parenting will only starts after baby is born? But that’s not so and various current researches prove otherwise. Therefore from the moment you know you are pregnant it’s worth to start to stimulate and communicate with your baby. There are tips allowing you to shape your child’s future today and I’m sure you know what I mean exactly, but however I’d like to repeat once again – converse with an unborn baby, talk to him (or her) like he or she is already present with you, sing him songs or whatever you want, think about baby, using daily experiences to prepare your baby for life after birth. Ans it’s no wonder that US President Bush and Education Secretary Margaret Spellings met with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Chancellor of Education Joel Klein to discuss how No Child Left Behind (NCLB) is producing positive results for students across the country and record high scores for minority students. Yesterday, the latest results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), or Nation’s Report Card, were released. The Report Card shows record results for our Nation’s students in reading and math. Scores are improving and achievement gaps are beginning to close.
• Chancellor Klein is strongly supportive of NCLB, calling it “one of the great bipartisan compromises in education” and praising its “focus on accountability.” With the support of Mayor Bloomberg, he’s made tough decisions that are getting great results in closing the achievement gap and raising achievement for New York City students.
• As the positive results from our Nation’s Report Card show, children can learn when standards are set high and results are measured.
• The President calls on Congress to reauthorize NCLB and give our teachers, parents, and children the educational tools they need. Now is not the time to water down standards, or roll back accountability and options for parents.
